Bug#921390: Bug 921390: Spanish speech synthesis

Hello all

I could complete a netinst installation in a laptop using Spanish speech synthesis and I couldn't reproduce the reported problems.

This is in a (quite old) physical machine: Acer Travelmate 5210 laptop, AMD processor 1.8GHz, 1 GB DDR2, 120GB SATA disk.

This is what I did:

* Download today's (2019-02-05) testing netinst images from:

https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/daily-builds/daily/current/amd64/iso-cd/debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso

and copy in an USB stick.

* Boot my computer with this stick

* Select "Speech synthesis" in the first screen of Debian installer

* The screen turns in text mode, and "Select a language" is shown, and indeed Spanish is not in the list of languages, but at the end of the shown list (29 languages), it says "Next choices are available with '+'.

* So I tried to press '+' in my (Spanish) keyboard but the right bracket (]) was shown. I guessed that the keyboard layout is configured as US Keyboard and tried Shift+the_key_near_backspace_on_top_row (in my Spanish keyboard this key is labeled "¿!") and then the '+' was shown. I pressed Enter and then languages from 30 Hebrew to 64 Spanish were shown, so I typed "64" and the installation continued with speech synthesis in Spanish.

* I didn't configure the network because I had no network available at the time of installation, but I completed the base install and the speech synthesis didn't crash in the process.

So I guess the problem with "Spanish" is due to the language not being shown in the first list of languages, and/or the need to press the "+" key in an US keyboard layout. And the problem of the speech synthesis crash I think it may be tied to the particular hardware or virtual machine?

Sorry I couldn't test the same image than Fran posted (ftp://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/buster-di-alpha5/amd64/iso-dvd/debian-buster-DI-alpha5-DVD1.iso), I will try to do another test with that one. But I doubt the issues are tied to a particular image.

Kind regards
