There has already been some work on this, see [1]. Unfortunately, the patch
from this bug report has not been merged yet because we were asked to wait
for backports support (IIRC) to be added first. You might want to get in
touch with JH Chatenet who wrote the patch.

Either way, it would be highly appreciated if you worked on this!
