[This mail didn't reach debian-boot@ due to the attachment's size, sorry
for not having suggested compression in the first place.]

Looking at the syslog, the nic-wireless udeb is loaded successfully and
no interfaces show up, so I've spent some more time digging around, and
found that some linux forks have merged out of tree drivers, including
the separate rtl8821ce module, e.g. at [1], which isn't in mainline yet
as of v4.20+):

So I guess there's not much we can do on the debian-installer side, we
would need to get this module merged into our linux source package to
make use of it, and I don't think the kernel team would add random out
of tree modules. ISTR backporting drivers is something that happens, so
we might get this module supported in a later 4.19.x release, once it
reaches mainline and someone backports it?

Cc'ing kernel team to make sure I'm not entirely wrong here. Maybe also
steal this bug away from installation-reports and have it retitled “no
support for rtl8821ce” or something similar?

Cheers,
