Hi, I am writing because you have tried to install Debian 9 for a month, on two different computers with virtual box. And I can not put Gnome. In the installation on a computer I get a red screen. So I just put the base system without graphical environment and then try to install the gnome, the next reboot will not boot. On any of the other desktops no problem is installed. Then
 I continued testing on different computers and different configurations
 and continued with the problem I was not allowed to install gnome on 
reboot after the computer does not boot. And in any desktop without problem and also with only text I have problem only happens with gnome.
Sorry for my english, in fact I'm using google translator. I hope it helps them to have a shiny Debian, as always. And while happy with my Jessie it works phenomenally :)

Hola, escribo por que ha tratado de instalar desde hace un mes Debian 9, en dos computadoras diferentes con virtual box. Y me es imposible poner Gnome. En la instalación en un equipo me sale una patantalla de color rojo. Así que solo puse el sistema base sin ambiente gráfico y luego trate de instalar el gnome, al siguiente reinició no arranca. En cualquiera de los otros escritorios sin problema se instala. Entonces seguí probando en diferentes equipos y diferentes configuraciones y continuó con el problema no me deja instalar gnome en al reiniciar el equipo después de la instalación no arranca. Y en cualquier escritorio sin problema y también con solo texto no tengo problema sólo sucede con gnome.
Perdón por mi ingles, de hecho estoy usando google traductor. Espero les ayude para que tengamos un debian reluciente, como siempre. Y mientras feliz con mi Jessie que funciona fenomenal :)

This is fixed by installing xserver-xorg-legacy which is now pulled in
by xserver-xorg via Recommends.
