I think this matches what happened upstream (warning, big repository:
https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base):
| commit 562c45cc841681ed80d4e94515b23c28eb60eae4
| Author: Bart Sears <bsears@google.com>
| Date: Mon Sep 24 00:32:57 2012 -0700
|
| Updated versions of DroidSansFallback
|
| Latest versions of DroidSansFallback from Monotype.
|
| The DroidSansFallback.ttf file has some additional glyphs and
| glyph fixes (including a fix for bug 6723057 and will likely fix
| bug 6629748). It continues to cover Korean Hangul but does not
| cover CJK Ext A (for space reasons on small system image devices).
| The DroidSansFallbackFull.ttf file has the bug fixes listed and
| also removes the Korean Hangul because we are now going to use
| NanumGothic for Korean (NanumGothic.ttf is added in a separate
| CL in the external/naver-fonts directory).
|
| The falback_fonts.xml file has been modified to add NanumGothic.ttf
| before DroidSansFallback.

even if how tags/versions in that repository match fonts-android's isn't
too clear to me.

Anyway, inspired by the commit message above, I've just built a d-i
image with an extra /usr/share/fonts/truetype/nanum/NanumGothic.ttf
taken from the fonts-nanum package, and it seems to work fine! (For
someone who only knows what Korean glyphs can look like…) I've attached
a screenshot, feel free to double check.

I think I'll send a patch against src:fonts-nanum to request a udeb
addition, then add it to src:debian-installer. And close the bug report
against src:fonts-android.

Any comment/objection?
