just a short status update.  Today a patchset to add HDMI support
for the Banana Pi M3 to the mainline kernel has been posted on
the linux-arm-kernel mailinglist:

This is the first version of this patchset and it still needs to
go through review.  If the review goes well and it gets accepted
by the corresponding subsystem maintainers within the next 14
days, it might make it into kernel 4.16, otherwise it will
probably have to target kernel 4.17.
