I also experienced the same problem.
Hardware is a B&R PPC2100
Intel Atom E3815
Debian 8.8 amd64 freezing @ "dpkg
something" during software installation
Debian 9.1 amd64 freezing @ "discover"
during software installation
I changed two things before it worked
(after trying and searching 2 hours):
- Disabled AHCI in BIOS
- Used the "firmware" version
of the iso
Hopefully this saves someone some trouble
