Using weekly netinst image downloaded today, failed right after
partitioning for full-disk-encryption, reporting that debootstrap
returned error 127.

Last messages on screen 4 were these:

sh: apt_dest: unknown operand
/usr/sbin/debootstrap: line 617: : Permission denied

Target host was a HP 15-g041so Notebook PC.  Target disk was connected
via USB.

This is already tracked in #844458/#844644, so there's no need to keep
this bug report open. You could just use the recently released Stretch
Alpha 8 images anyway:
