Bug#811243: base-installer: shouldn't assume that file protocol is only used for CD (image) installs

Hi there,

Any update on this? After further testing from Jonas Meurer,
(X-Debbugs-CC'ed) the second patch, while cleaner IMHO, seems to break
the installation in ways I wasn't able to debug nor reproduce.

The first patch ‘0001-Avoid-calling-apt-cdrom-8-on-file-mirrors.patch’
in <20160118163240.GA29197@localhost.localdomain> works for both of us
though, and since it's also less invasive, I guess it should be easier
to see whether it has undesired side-effects in some installations. If
there are not, may I suggest to apply it?
