Hello,

does that laptop have UEFI? If yes, in which mode (UEFI or
CSM/"BIOS" mode) has the installer been booted and in which mode
is the final installation booted?

I have seen the effect that some UEFI implementations use
different default boot modes for different devices, and booting a
CSM/"BIOS" mode installation in UEFI mode and vice versa fails,
so a boot mode mismatch could be a possible cause for your
problem.
