I've encountered exactly this problem. Instead of a network share, I
made the assumption that the mirror one is installing against, is in
actual fact a full export of the live ISO image. And thus, I change
the logic (with a hint from Colin) to iterate and search for
filesystem.squashfs twice: once with /cdrom/ prefix, and the second
time with $mirror.

And I shall rework it for debian, due to things that are different
between ubuntu and debian.
