Without more details such as alt-F4 logs or /var/log/syslog, I can only
guess that you are probably hit by a bug which will be fixed in the next
hurd-udeb upload, see changelog:

  * patches/git-mtab-paths.patch: Cherry-pick patch to fix spurious ./ in mtab
    paths, to fix d-i's grub-installer. Closes: #774386.
