Bug#785069: jessie live-installer can't install grub when booted via usb drive without internet

Raphael, since you're one of the few who touched non-l10n areas of
live-installer recently, any chance you could have a look?

And to answer the question in [1], no you can't have a fix in a point
release until it's fixed in unstable.

It might be useful to provide a log so that we understand what's
happening here.
