Ok, so the decision is still open, which values to use.
These are the facts:

1.
The (text) installer refuses to work with less than 80MB of RAM (on i386)
(big fat red warning about not enough RAM, risk of broken behaviour ...).

2.
the graphical installer apparently needs at least 256MB to start
(on i386).

3.
Help page F2 of the installer says, at least 105MB are needed
to use *the*installer*.

4.
the d-i manual contains recommendations for minimum RAM of *installed*system*:

============= %< =========================================================

Table 3.2. Recommended Minimum System Requirements
Install Type RAM (minimal) RAM (recommended) Hard Drive
No desktop 64 megabytes 256 megabytes 1 gigabyte
With Desktop 128 megabytes 512 megabytes 5 gigabytes

The actual minimum memory requirements are a lot less than the numbers
listed in this table. Depending on the architecture, it is possible
to install Debian with as little as 20MB (for s390) to 60MB (for amd64).

============== >% ========================================================

So what needs to be changed?
In
https://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2013/05/msg00662.html
I have already proposed the following:

  Table 3.2. Recommended Minimum System Requirements
  Install Type RAM (minimal) RAM (recommended) Hard Drive
- No desktop 	64 megabytes 	256 megabytes 		1 gigabyte
- With Desktop 	128 megabytes 	512 megabytes 		5 gigabytes
+ No desktop 	128 megabytes 	512 megabytes 		1 gigabyte
+ With Desktop 	256 megabytes 	1 gigabyte 		5 gigabytes

OK to commit this?

Holger
