Bug#698392: FWIW -- experiencing the same while booting off the installation USB stick (through loopback to .iso) with wheezy 7.5
FWIW: I was trying to install wheezy amd64 using
http://ftp.debian.org/debian/dists/wheezy/main/installer-amd64/current/images/netboot/mini.iso
which was booted into using grub menu record such as (mentally replace
those variables with the path to the iso on the stick ;) )
menuentry "Debian Stable (Wheezy, 7.5) netinstall amd64" {
loopback loop /boot/iso/debian-7.5-netinstall-amd64.iso
linux (loop)/linux vga=normal --
initrd (loop)/initrd.gz
}
usb stick was visible to the system as sda and two system drives (through
LSI adapter, not raided) as sdb and sdc
stall seemed to occur during /lib/partman/init.d/35dump . Here are two
screen photos which might be of additional information

Having given up on wheezy installation attempt, tried today's
jessie from the same stick but loaded not from iso
menuentry "Debian Testing (Squeeze, 8~x, 20140618) netinstall amd64" {
linux /boot/iso/debian-testing-amd64/linux vga=normal --
initrd /boot/iso/debian-testing-amd64/initrd.gz
}
worked fine. If you are keen on trying to recreate similar 'boot stick' to
reproduce -- http://www.onerussian.com/tmp/multiboot , just partition your
stick first (make a bit bigger offset to the fat32 partition, e.g. 20480
instead of default 2048) and adjust the path to it in the script.
Cheers,
