I don't suppose this is better with 20130613+deb7u1.b2 (Debian 7.4)?

I'm not sure what could be triggering this though, last I checked all
needed bits should be in sync, so this might be due to a failure to find
a suitable mirror, or maybe some issue when preparing installation media?

I'm not sure about how to debug mips stuff, but there might be a tail of
syslog on tty4. Or you could maybe use a console/netconsole to get more
info.
