Package: installer
severity: important

Dear Installer Team,

I used the nightly build of the Jessy i386 mini.iso (22-Feb-2014 00:16) to install to an old laptop.
I wrote the mini.iso to a usb-stick using unetbootin.
During the partitioning phase of the installation i got the following error:

"Error informing the kernel about modifications to partition /dev/sda1 -- Device or resource busy. This means Linux won't know about any changes you made to /dev/sda1 until you reboot --"

There is an option to ignore, but this doesn't alleviate the problem.
As a usb-stick is an increasingly popular installation medium, I would categorize this bug as important.

Work around:
+ Remove the usb-stick with the netinstaller before entering the partioning phase of the installation.

Greetings,

Mark

last I checked, unetbootin was causing endless issues (at least when I
tried to use it to see how it went), and I'm afraid we're not going to
even try and support it.

Thanks for your bug report anyway.

Mraw,
KiBi.
