Bug#741027: installation-reports: Computer freezes/hangs during install, boot or usage.

Hi,

Thank you for your support.

- the installer needed noapic;
Yes the installer worked better with the noapic option. Better means with less delays. The system was always booting but it was getting slower and slower after some time with the liveCD.
However, after I changed made some BIOS it's working better and I don't need now the noapic option:
    What I changed in the BIOS: "OS Select" from "Win 8" to "Win 7/Other OS" and "CSM Parameters" to "Enabled" with all options to "Legacy Only".
Now I only have Debian installed. Win 8 is out.
- the installed system is having kernel oopses in the proprietary fglrx module?
This question I didn't understand very well. I think you mean the ATI driver. The system was working before without the ATI driver installed and I only got this error:
[    1.017799] PCI-DMA: Using software bounce buffering for IO (SWIOTLB)
[    1.017802] Placing 64MB software IO TLB between ffff88008a278000 - ffff88008e278000
[    1.017803] software IO TLB at phys 0x8a278000 - 0x8e278000
[    1.018204] [Firmware Bug]: cpu 0, try to use APIC500 (LVT offset 0) for vector 0x10400, but the register is already in use for vector 0xf9 on another cpu
[    1.018248] [Firmware Bug]: cpu 0, IBS interrupt offset 0 not available (MSRC001103A=0x0000000000000100)
[    1.018288] Failed to setup IBS, -22

After installing the ATI Driver it's worse and freezing for more time.

I hope this helps!

Regards,
Kelvin

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
   Every time I tried to install a new MEDION computer (MEDION MS-7857/MS-7857,
BIOS M7857W08.203 01/06/2014) it was hanging during the install or even before
during boot.

  The more time I use the computer the delays or hangs are for more seconds.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
   As this system is a pre-installed windows 8 (64bits) with UEFI I thought it
might be for the UEFI boot that was hanging and I followed every help available
in Web. After few days trying and I was able to complete the install passing
this parameter to the kernel during the install boot (noapic).
If I understand it properly based on the follow-up you just sent, you're
having two issues:
 - the installer needed noapic;
 - the installed system is having kernel oopses in the proprietary fglrx
   module?

Mraw,
KiBi.
