Speaking as a "user" who is also a "newbie" I can suggest why there would not be much comment about Gnome3.If you recognize it as useless, the Wheezy installer facilitates alternative DE's. In my case I favor Gnome2's look-n-feel enough that I will stay with Squeeze until learning how to tweak one of the other DE's to my satisfaction.
