I certainly didn't notice the switch, But then I've just stayed on
testing for several years, noticed the Gnome and KDE lurches, and
had already switched to xfce a long time ago.
Also, a small, efficient, reliable system just doesn't *need* as many
developers as a huge mess. The resulting stability is much
appreciated.
