Comments/Problems:

(1) Advanced Options -> Expert Install

(2) The installer CD passed the "Check the CD-ROM(S) integrity" test
on the installer menu.

(3) Shortly after the installer inquires concerning users authorized
to start the X server, etc., the Red Screen of Death appears.
Switching terminals via Alt-F4, the following messages can be seen:

...In-target: Errors were encountered while processing:
...In-target: fuse
...main-menu[281]WARNING **: Configuring 'pkgsel' failed with error code 1
...main-menu[281]WARNING **: Menu item 'pkgsel' failed.

(4) The same abnormal termination was observed in an installation
attempt (yesterday) on an AMD64 system. Subsequently, the AMD64
system was successfully installed using the AMD64 NETINST CD
