Package: debootstrap
Version: 0.2.45-0.2
Severity: wishlist

Hello,

please, please don't use wget anymore.
1st. It's insecure.
2nd. It actually has to be avaiable. As I understand debootstrap it
should be an really stand-alone option to install Debian Linux from
another Unix / Linux platform. Requiering wget means:
Have wget installed - well, often it isn't installed already. That means
you have to built it, by that you usually need a capable compiler.
So, what do you need wget for? Downloading, just downloading. These can
be accoomplished by curl, too.
So why don't you just link it statically against curl and - that's it.
Furthermore
For what do you need libc6 >= 2.3.2.ds1-4? Imho it's rather strange if
other unices are used to install Debian. Please consider building
debootstrap staticially, without any depencies.

Keep smiling
yanosz

I'm not sure I understand all the arguments… but I can't see a problem
with the current state of affairs on the debootstrap side, so closing.
