Package: debootstrap Version: 0.2.45-0.2 Severity: wishlist Hello, please, please don't use wget anymore. 1st. It's insecure. 2nd. It actually has to be avaiable. As I understand debootstrap it should be an really stand-alone option to install Debian Linux from another Unix / Linux platform. Requiering wget means: Have wget installed - well, often it isn't installed already. That means you have to built it, by that you usually need a capable compiler. So, what do you need wget for? Downloading, just downloading. These can be accoomplished by curl, too. So why don't you just link it statically against curl and - that's it. Furthermore For what do you need libc6 >= 2.3.2.ds1-4? Imho it's rather strange if other unices are used to install Debian. Please consider building debootstrap staticially, without any depencies. Keep smiling yanosz -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.12.3 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Versions of packages debootstrap depends on: ii binutils 2.15-6 The GNU assembler, linker and bina ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii wget 1.9.1-12 retrieves files from the web -- no debconf information

I'm not sure I understand all the arguments… but I can't see a problem with the current state of affairs on the debootstrap side, so closing. Mraw, KiBi.Attachment: signature.asc
