I believe it should be fixed by the following commit: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=d-i/debian-installer.git;a=commitdiff;h=aa27246c9291f56620fb86b3f5eff20db4ccdff6 I have only checked the presence of desktop=... in /proc/cmdline for the booted environment, and navigated a bit in the menus to make sure they look OK, but didn't complete any full installation.
