When installing Wheezy via netinst, it's impossible to preconfigure the
domain name, but allow the hostname to be manually entered.
Something seems to be clobbering the domain name, and it gets prompted
for with the default as an empty string. e.g. for the case where I
don't pass in get_domain on the command line, or in the preseed file,
but just via DHCP:
