Bug#735254: flash-kernel: QNAP TS-212 doesn't boot with 3.12-1-kirkwood and flash-kernel 3.12
Package: flash-kernel
Version: 3.12
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system
Dear Maintainer,
Description and steps to reproduce:
- QNAP TS-212 (cpuinfo = 'QNAP TS-119/TS-219') with 3.11-2-kirkwood and flash-kernel 3.12;
- Installed 3.12-1-kirkwood (update-initramfs and flash-kernel executed automatically and normally);
- Rebooted;
- System not up;
- Connected serial console;
- Rebooted;
- System hangs just after kernel being (successfully) loaded by U-Boot, with no output whatsoever.
I was able to restore an old backup (flash and rootfs), repeat the whole process and get to the same exact result.
I suppose this has to do with DT - Device Tree and could be (loosely) related to bugs #731345 and #734769.
The solution appears to be the appendage of DTB to the kernel, but I have little to no knowledge in patching flash-kernel to get to a working solution.
Regards,
Ruben
