Re: Installing Wheezy as guest fails

Hi,

Your feedback was interesting, thanks. I don't think this was a problem
with the installer though.

mini.iso is usually not recommended. If burning a CD anyway, I
recommend at least a netinst image (157M, and includes kernels 8.3 and
9.0 I think) : http://www.debian.org/CD/netinst/

The mini.iso really is not a 'Debian CD', so that is correct. A
mini.iso is still usable, but you are seeing the error message because:

That's probably not a good idea. Most people need no extra d-i modules
at all. Or it is expected the user picks only a few items from the list
as necessary.

Some of the choices have side effects:
cdrom-checker
cdrom-detect
load-cdrom
load-iso
load-media
iso-scan

any of these could make the installer look on the mini.iso for Debian
packages (which it does not contain) or another .iso file which is also
not there.

The mini.iso still works okay if I select all components except for
those listed above. Although it tries to begin an automated Debian Edu
install next... really those components should not be chosen unless you
want to use them.

Some of the available wheezy install media has 8.3, some 9.0, or both
together, in which case 9.0 is used by default. There is actually a
mini.iso generated for each:

http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/main/installer-kfreebsd-amd64/current/images/netboot/mini.iso
with kernel 8.3

http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/dists/stable/main/installer-kfreebsd-amd64/current/images/netboot-9/mini.iso
with kernel 9.0
