Bug#725714: installation-reports: Recent netinst.iso doesn't write missing firmware to /run/udev/firmware-missing

Package: installation-reports
Severity: serious

Dear Maintainer,

The current debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso is broken: It does detect missing firmware, but does not place this information in the correct folder /run/udev/fimrware-missing. This directory does not exist, when check-missing-firmware tries to load the missing firmware and thus check-missing-firmware does not look for any.

The last debian-testing-amd64-netinst.iso that I downloaded at 24.08.2013 worked just fine, as well as the debian-7.1.0-amd64-netinst.iso. I am reporting this bug from an installation done with the working testing netinstall ISO.

The relevant parts of syslog are:

debian-7.1.0-amd64-netinst.iso (working):

This is a very serious bug, because it prevents a (reasonable) netinstallation using WLAN, since most WLAN devices use non-free firmware.

Please fix this as soon as possible.

Best regards,
Andreas
