Package: installation-reports
Severity: normalHi,
I'm having some problems with Debian Squeeze installation.Right after selecting the mirror to download updates, the installation stops for a long time in "Downloading file 1 of 1"(or something like that). When I start the log (Alf+F4) I see lots and lots of "Buffer I/O errors on Device sr0", that is my CD/DVD drive.I don't know if this is related to drivers, because it's a brand new LG GH22NS40 (SATA),and when I turn on my old CD drive (an Optiarc IDE), the errors happen just one or two times, but the installation continues in less than five seconds.I tried to install Squeeze with 2 ISOs that I have here (different weeks and builds). The errors persisted.QUESTIONS:Is there any report about this? Could it be a driver problem?I am running the OS here right now with the LG GH22NS40. If anyone knows a procedure to "prove" the drive, just tell me and I will do it.My hardware: Intel i3 530 2,93Ghz, 4GB RAM, ASUS P7H55M-BR, SAMSUNG HD 250GB, SEAGATE HD 80GB, LG DVDRW, C3 TECH 500W POWER SUPPLY.-- System Information:

Hi, thank you for submitting installation reports, much appreciated. I read through all the bugs mentioned here (and I'm sure they were read by several people at the time they were submitted) and am closing them now as/if - they (finally) indicated success and/or - I know from first hand experience that the functionality is working in Wheezy and/or - they only contained very little information and/or - they contained user errors and/or - they have been from a development phase where things were not stable and/or - they are very old, more than 2.3 years. If I've closed a bug incorrectly please do reply (it's easy to reopen and I'll do if requested) or just file a new one - thats often better, as the bug log will be clearer and shorter and not contain cruft. cheers, HolgerAttachment: signature.asc
