Bug#715158: debian-installer: Network card using pcnet_cs (NE2000 compatible PCMCIA) is not detected

I report a bug affecting the installation of Debian 7.1 on that same computer.
(Note that I report the bug from a different computer, which has network access.)
The DVD is: Debian GNU/Linux 7.1.0 "Wheezy" - Official i386 DVD Binary-1, 20130615-21:54
Historic sidenote:
Installation and card support worked with Debian 6.0. The pcnet_cs driver was successfully used there.
What I did:
I use the dist DVD#1 on a slightly older PC, where ethernet is provided using a PCMCIA card.
When the installer tries to identify network hardware, the pop-up appears asking me to choose the card.
However, when I opt for the pcnet_cs driver for NE2000 compatible cards (happily used before by Debian 6.0), the probing apparently does not identify the card and the pop-up choice reappears.
Diagnosis:
In the installation log terminal (tty4) I found a message:
chdir to /etc/pcmcia failed: No such file or directory.
Indeed, /etc/pcmcia did not exist. A dir-listing of /etc showed instead a directory /etc/pcmciautils.
Workaround:
In a shell in the installation environment (tty2) I created a link:
cd /etc
ln -s pcmciautils pcmcia
Then back in the installer menu (tty1), I go back to re-try the automatic detection of network card.
With the modification made, network configuration succeeded and the subsequent DHCP query, too.
