[...] It sounds like your BIOS implements Fast Boot <http://mjg59.dreamwidth.org/24869.html>, but then I don't understand how you booted the installer originally. According to <http://superuser.com/a/535953>, you can enter BIOS setup from grub-efi by going to the command line and running 'fwsetup'.
