Bug#703015: network un-reachable during install, sources.list file wrong
Package: choose-mirror
Version: 2.44
I use a mobile broadband device to connect my computer(s) to the
Internet.
When I tried installing "Debian wheezy-DI-rc1 i386 1" onto my NEC
PowerMate, it failed to connect to the Internet.
the Choose Mirror stage failed, it stated that the mirror was not
working.
After installation, my computer connected to the Internet, but the
file /etc/apt/sources.list did not contain the right data.
The line about security.debian.org started with a "#" and so does not
work.
The mirror which I chose, is not mentioned at all.
I would prefer that the line "... security.debian.org ..." work by
default, and that the mirror which I chose be shown in the
sources.list file, and also work.
I attach a copy of /etc/apt/sources.list from my NEC PowerMate
computer.
I can, of course, edit the file myself.
However, some people, not familiar with Debian Linux might not do so.
Please modify the programme choose-mirror, so that it actually
records, in /etc/apt/sources.list, the mirror which the user
chooses.
Please also arrange that access to the chosen mirror, and to
security.debian.org is enabled by default.
If there is sometimes some reason to not enable it, then please have
choose-mirror ask the user at install time.
Thank you very much for maintaining choose-mirror.
Best regards
Richard Betham
