Comments/Problems:

Initial boot troubles:

A nice painting appears, but, after choosing from the menu, nothing happens
and the machine seems freezed (some strange coloured points do appear in the
top line of the screen though).
Defaults to a graphic mode seemingly not supported by the graphic adapter?
Unclear how to pass parameters to kernel, but, in the end, I managed to pass
fb=false so got a ncurses install menu.

I'd suggest to adopt a ncurses UI as default, and give the graphics as
an option (with fallback in case of failure, maybe with a timer).
