The kernel for today's i386 daily netinst image is now at 3.2.0-4-486.
After commenting out the lines added to mountmedia for beta-2 the
detection of firmware proceeds as normal (logical partitions are
searched) and it is put in /lib/firmware when found. As far as I can
see #684293 is no longer with us.
