I use the -3.2-486-bpo kernel now on this box with the otherwise stable release. It really is OK, although -686 would be even nicer maybe ? Wikipedia says, TM-Crusoe is a 586-CPU, so possibly -686 would not work at all, no matter if pae is enabled or not. I am going to submit a report on this currently running system, although stable-installation already was tested well enough.
