Bug#692001: debian installer error

As I can not login into the system at all, it seems impossible
to do this at this time.....

I tried adding the 'Single' option by editing the kernel line
at boot time.  Still brought up the system in graphics mode.

I have installed several other distros without difficulty, so
the non-free firmware-linux must be automatically installed
during the usual installation.
