Comments/Problems:
This bug report is sent with the installed system.
I did follow the classical install path, accepting all default values, except
the following items:
* selection of the French locale
* selection of the "LVM crypted - everything on one partition" scheme for the
partioning, with the following very simple one-letter passphrase: "A"
When the system boots again, I'm asked to enter the passphrase and the system
refuses "A" as the correct passphrase, while it accepts "Q" as the correct
passphrase.
The use of a very simple passphrase is here to make the point clear that
I haven't forgotten what the passphrase is or that I'm making mistakes. The
problem lies in the fact that the system mapping for the keyboard is wrong at
boot time when the passphrase is asked ("Q" is the QWERTY equivalent of the "A"
letter on an AZERTY keyboard. I have verified the assumption with a more complex
passphrase by typing the passphrase as if my keyboard had a QWERTY layout.
I consider it an important bug since remembering a long passphrase over time is
crucial when it is the single lock of your system, and it gets even harder if
one has to concentrate on a different keyboard layout at the same time. This can
drives someone mad.
This bug report might be linked with Bug#688064 "Successful classical install but
wrong keyboard layout in GRUB".
