Oh well, I didn't figure out the reason by grepping, too - but google
helped: #618572

VMware emulates this:
LSI Logic / Symbios Logic 53c1030 PCI-X Fusion-MPT Dual Ultra320 SCSI
[1000:0030]

which looks pretty much like real hardware.
