Bug#560696: tasksel: The mail-server task should install dovecot instead of qpopper and uw-imapd
Package: tasksel
Version: 3.09
Followup-For: Bug #560696
With the wheezy freeze imminent, I'd like to draw attention to this bug
again. I agree with the several other mails to this bug: the
mail-server task should switch to dovecot.
I'd suggest doing so by dropping qpopper and uw-imapd, and recommending
dovecot-imapd, dovecot-pop3d, dovecot-sieve, and dovecot-managesieved.
As for the mails suggesting the addition of a webmail server, I think
the choices in that category involve significantly more contention, in
addition to bringing in a large pile of additional dependencies. It
seems premature to me to declare a Debian-recommended choice in that
category.
