Bug#678008: debian-installer: "Space fun" theme considered harmful

Package: debian-installer
Severity: wishlist
Tags: d-i

I've recently tried the "graphical install" option of both Squeeze's and Wheezy's netinst installation images,
and to my dismay, Debian Installer shows some childish and unprofessional images of rockets and gallaxies,
probably intended as a figurative but fallacious illustration of the "The Universal Operating System" motto.

Aesthetics aside, I'm tempted to consider this a minor bug instead of a whishlist, as it is probably a
"cosmetic mistake" to depict Debian's intent to be "universal" (useful for all users and on all fields)
with a cartoonish drawing of the Universe.

Nothing calls for graphically representing Debian's universality, especially in this crude, ugly, far from
subtle and equivocal way.

Please consider dropping entirely the rockets, stardustst, and gallaxies. Just the Debian logo and a plain
background in a sober color will do.
