I've followed the method described here http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/apds03.html.en to install Debian on a distant server. Everything worked fine until I tried to use MAKEDEV.

$ cd /dev
$ MAKEDEV generic
bash: MAKEDEV: command not found
$ find / -name "MAKEDEV"
$

I suggest to add MAKEDEV to files which are installed by debootstrap.

I am using GNU/Linux 2.6.36.2 (custom kernel : sdf125-core2-32 from SD-France) i686.
