I have a hypothesis (I can't prove it yet as I'm not very familiar with d-i): I had another error message that I ignored at first: ``[!!] Configure the package manager apt configuration problem An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the CD failed `` That's why d-i could not install grub-pc. Actual grub-pc_1.99-8 package was found at the DVD and I had no network during installation, so it could not be fetched from the internet. I'll try to check the reason of apt-cdrom failure this evening as I can't deduce it from syslog. I would appreciate if someone familiar with d-i looks at the syslog file, maybe the reason of apt-cdrom failure is obvious. umount failure after apt-setup-udeb looks quite innocent and I see no other errors. > In case you want to share it so more people can take a look, please send it, > (gzipped).
