Can you compare the sizes of the busybox udeb with and without the
arping patch?

I think that the only objection against applying your patches could be
the size increase for the D-I initrd.... If that seems bearable, then
I don't really see objections for applying it (but would leave the
decision to Matt Palmer as "main" netcfg maintainer).

Thanks again for this work (it's always great to see people working on
new DI features!).
