./boot-installer/x86.xml:<filename>menu.lst</filename> in the <filename>/boot/grub/</filename>
./appendix/chroot-install.xml:<filename>menu.lst</filename><phrase arch="x86">or <filename>lilo.conf</filename>.  For
./appendix/chroot-install.xml:and working <filename>/boot/grub/menu.lst</filename>.

But, these instructions are for dealing with an existing, likely non-Debian
system's existing bootloader, so they're necessarily vague, and such a system
is probably more likely to be running grub 1 still.
