Comments/Problems:

<Description of the install, in prose, and any thoughts, comments
and ideas you had during the initial install.>
I have three computers running Etch and enough spare disk space to attempt to install
Lenny on all of them. After a false start with a bad CD burn, I succeeded on the first
machine, but the second machine would not boot from the netinst disk. I checked the
boot sequence settings in the bios. They were correct. (I had previously installed
first Sarge and then Etch from netinst disks on this machine so I would have been
surprised if the settings had changed.) I tried several times, burned a new CD, but
could not get this machine to boot from LennyBeta2 iso image.

I tried the thirs machine. On this, I was able to boot from the Lenny netinst CD.
I didn't go beyond the welcome screen because I really wanted to do the third
machine last. I poked around for several days looking for differences that made
the second machine different from the other two. The only thing that I could find
was that the two machines have bios from American Megatrends, and the one that
will not boot off of LennyBeta2 has bios from Award.

I will attempt to set up email on the box that had the problem and see
if I can send a repeat of this report from that machine.

Please make sure that the hardware-summary log file, and any otherOn all of these
machines, I installed Etch by netinst with no problems.
The third machine is an old Gateway. The first is a newish grey box that I assembled
with the help of a local computer shop. The second and problem computer is
a "Great Quality" that I purchased from Fry's in Sacramento in 2002.

I'll be glad to answer any more detailed questions that you can think to ask.
I'd like to move my little shop to Lenny as soon as it is released.

Version: 1.7.1-5.1

Description: The GNU Parted disk partitioning shared library
GNU Parted is a program that allows you to create, destroy,
resize, move and copy hard disk partitions. This is useful
for creating space for new operating systems, reorganising
disk usage, and copying data to new hard disks. This package
contains the Parted binary and manual page.
 .
This package contains libparted, the required shared library
used by Parted. This is a cut-down package with no normal
documentation intended to be used in debian-installer.
 .
Parted currently supports DOS, Mac, Sun, BSD, GPT, MIPS and
PC98 disklabels/partition tables, as well as a 'loop' (raw
disk) type which allows use on RAID/LVM. Filesystems which
are currently fully supported are ext2, ext3, fat (FAT16
and FAT32), ReiserFS (with libreiserfs) and linux-swap.
Parted can also detect and remove HFS (Mac OS), JFS, NTFS,
UFS (Sun and HP), XFS and ASFS/AFFS/APFS (Amiga) filesystems,
but cannot create, resize or check these filesystems yet.
 .
Note that ReiserFS support is only enabled if you install
the libreiserfs0.3-0 package. Since libreiserfs0.3-0 has been
removed from sarge, ReiserFS support is not compiled in the
 default package.
 .
The nature of this software means that any bugs could cause
massive data loss. While there are no known bugs at the moment,
they could exist, so please back up all important files before
running it, and do so at your own risk.

it is needed more information to understand the problem.
A lot has changed in the installer since you filled your report and now
the supported release of the debian installer is the Debian Squeeze
Beta2 (and RC1 is on the way).
So, it's not very useful to spent effort debugging an unsupported d-i
image when we are very near and working on the Squeeze release.
I invite you to try with the current release of the debian installer and
send an installation report.
