It looks like the default superblock version will be changed back to 0.90 
in mdadm for Squeeze. That means no workaround in partman would be needed.

So I'm putting this on hold for now, but it also means RAID installs, 
especially with /boot on RAID, will reamain problematic until an updated 
version of mdadm appears.
