Comments/Problems:

Raid device not created during partitioning. Attempting to create a basic software raid1 array according to documentation and guides found online. 98% certain I am following correct procedure.

In /var/log/syslog, correlated with the times of me attempting to create raid arrays, there is an error that says "mdadm: /dev/md/ is an invalid name for an md device (empty!)".
