Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it

Initial boot: [O]
Detect network card: [O]
Configure network: [O]
Detect CD: [O]
Load installer modules: [O]
Detect hard drives: [O]
Partition hard drives: [E]
Install base system: [O]
Clock/timezone setup: [O]
User/password setup: [O]
Install tasks: [O]
Install boot loader: [E]
Overall install: [O]

Comments/Problems:

(I have used the "Expert install", I don't know if this matters for something)

'Partition hard drives' problems: To toggle bootable flag on /boot partition I had to execute a shell and do it by fdisk, since Debian installer fails to toggle the flag (no error is reported but the flag is not changed anyway).

'Install boot loader' problems: The first time I run the install-grub step it fails. The second time it was "fine", no error was reported but although installer saids "Windows Vista was detected, install GRUB in the MBR?" no Windows entry is included in the grub menu. After installation I had to run "update-grub" manually to be able to boot my Windows partition.

Wireless card problems: After installation I enabled my wireless network card using both drivers broadcom-wl and brcm80211, both works fine, though I had to manually specify the DNS servers. I'm not able to get DNS servers through DHCP using Debian, but Windows 7 and Ubuntu Lucid/Maverik do not have this problem.

'Sound problems': Built-in microphone does not work.

I think this is normal, see Bug#509799: needs check to make sure /boot
is bootable ...

The fact that Windows does not in the menu after installation and that
"update-grub" has to be ran afterwards is known.

I'm closing your installation report as it was quite successful.
Thank you for your time testing the Debian Installer and reporting your
results. Have fun with your new Debian system!
