(Recent d-i team meeting discussion indicates that this is currently
considered a bug we very much want to fix for squeeze.)

blockdev was added to busybox upstream in early September.  I think the
best path forward for this bug is to backport that applet, which should
be straightforward.  I'm working on this now, and will then review
Alex's patch.
