Package: debian-installer
Version: Daily build #3 for i386 02-Sep-2009 13:39 netinst ISO

I am trying to install Debian Squeeze on an Via miniitx motherboard - EPIA-EX 15000G (http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/embedded/ProductDetail.jsp?id=450) - using the expert install. When it boots the kernel it gets as far as:

[ 5.037312] usbhid : v2.6:USB HID core driver

then hangs for a couple of minutes and then comes up with:

[ 63.884022] hda : lost interrupt

The hard drive light is constantly on and after another couple of minutes the PC locks up completely.

The installed hard drive is an IDE and the DVD drive is an IDE slim drive with a slim IDE ATAPI to SATA adapter. The kernel seems to pick up both drives as hd drives rather than sd.

I have had no problem with Debian Etch or Fedora Core 8 (which the PC is currently running).

We are closing this bug report against debian-installer
for one of the following reasons:
- it was reported with a pre-lenny version of Debian
  Installer.
- indications in the bug report give the feeling that
the reported problem was lying in another software, unrelated to
D-I, which we can't easily identify.
- indications in the installation report suggest that it may have been
fixed in a more recent version of a D-I component
- it was successful and we forgot closing it..:-)
- it has no information we consider useful

The D-I team is currently in the process of cleaning out the old spool
of installation reports that haven't bene processed yet.

In case you think that the problem you reported has chances to be
still present, please reiterate your installation test with
a more recent image of D-I, if you're in position of doing this.

You'll find daily builds at
http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. We recommend you choose
the netboot image, in the "daily builds section", then choose to
install "squeeze" when prompted.

If some problems are found, please report them with a new bug sent
against installation-reports.

Many thanks for your understanding and your help improving Debian,
past and present.
