This is X.org's job more than the installer's...at least I think.
Providing the list of X packages that had been installed
("dpkg --get-selections|grep xorg") as well as output from xorg server
(/var/log/Xorg.0.log) might help...
Sorry to the (too few) xorg maintnainers....this is all that I can do
to try helping you guys investigating this...
